As I was growing up in the 50's in a large family my parents unabashedly referred to the TV set as the "electronic babysitter" and made liberal use of it. Our TV set was made of blonde wood and had skinny spindly legs. I loved it dearly. Many happy hours were spent in its enticing glow.
The first thing I ever remember seeing on it
was
Gerald McBoing Boing At 3 years of age I recall how intensely sad it was when Gerald was alone in the swirling snow.

So nice! It's one of your best I've seen...
Lovely drawing. I like the 'side dish' as well, the rabbit antena, the telephone, and the cartoon in the TV.

hooray for retro goodness! I love the walls and the tv and phone!
Its funny how sometimes I will draw my TVs like that in my illos...and the art director would say "please up date that TV!"

Wow! You really captured the fun retro style with such flair!
I agree, you've nailed the retro style here! I loved those TVs with slender legs, they seemed too spindly to hold up such weight.

We use the television as a pacifier in the prison--an idiot box for the idiots in the box.
Brilliant! I love this whole scene!!! (happy!)

Oh yah! Lovin' the retro t.v. box, and the groovy design in the background.
Makes me kind of miss my old tube set, and the burning static smell when we turned it on.

Great illustration! I like colours, retro style, composition, ...everything!
